"You were here clapping and giving EOCO thumbs up for arresting Wontumi, but you’re here barking like an aimless dog because your favourite artiste has been arrested. You must not only love your country when the law holds your enemies to account."
@liveuphighup remarked:
"Up till now, there is no single evidence from EOCO showing the car was stolen, someone was shot in the car, or the FBI is involved! Liars!"
@HonJM_Safety shared:
"The law is the law. Our man will be out soon, so they should relax."
@dj_imara shared:
"All this started when they allowed politicians to do the same thing in front of their office. If they had stopped the politicians and declared that place a security zone, all these people wouldn’t have been able to go there and make noise."
Why did EOCO detain Shatta Wale?
On August 21, it was confirmed that EOCO had detained the artiste in connection with money laundering, possession of proceeds of crime, tax fraud, and tax evasion investigations.
Before the arrest, EOCO confiscated Shatta Wale's 2019 Lamborghini Urus, which has been linked to an FBI case in which Shatta Wale and a former officer of the National Signals Bureau are persons of interest.
A statement EOCO released on August 5 stated that the Lamborghini was tied to one Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving an 86-month prison term in the United States.
