Embattled Wontumi TV presenter Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare has been granted bail by the Accra High Court in the amount of GH¢100,000 with two sureties.

The controversial Kumasi-based political show host appeared in court to await judgment on a bail application his legal team filed to secure his bail and get him released from police custody.
According to the court ruling, presided over by Justice Samuel Acquah, the sureties should be public servants, with one earning not less than GH¢5,000 a month.
Akyenkwaa Nana excited after being granted bail
After being granted bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, in handcuffs, was escorted by personnel from the Ghana Police Service into a vehicle.
In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, the Wontumi TV presenter beamed with a smile as he received words of encouragement from his supporter as he left the premises of the Accra Circuit Court.
He hurriedly entered the police vehicle with the officers and was seen excitedly raising his fist in the air while in handcuffs.
Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare later waved to his supporters as he departed the court premises while his legal team addressed the media on the latest developments in the ongoing matter.

Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare was arrested by suspected national security operatives in Ejisu on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, over some allegations he made against President John Dramani Mahama after the tragic helicopter crash.

Following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Wontumi TV presenter accused the president of being responsible for the accident.
He also urged the families of the eight deceased Ghanaians to hold the President solely accountable for the loss of their loved ones.
Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare received condemnation from many Ghanaians, who described his remarks as reckless and insensitive.
The Kumasi-based media personality was subsequently denied bail and remanded in police custody following his appearance at the Accra Circuit Court on two different occasions.
