Legendary Ghanaian musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, passed away on July 26, 2025, after a brief illness, leaving behind a discography of 33 albums, as reported by Spotify.

His lead manager, Philip Kwabena Agyeman, affectionately known as Roman Fada, has now come forward to shed light on the highlife veteran's funeral arrangements in a video that has quickly gone viral.

Roman Fada talks about Daddy Lumba's funeral

In a statement posted by Citi FM, Roman Fada stated that the Presidency has assured Daddy Lumba's family of a dignified and fitting funeral, reflective of his monumental contributions to the music industry.

Acknowledging the support from the government, he expressed his gratitude towards President John Dramani Mahama, emphasising the leader's commendable policies in favour of the creative arts.

Roman Fada noted the significance of an event held on July 1, 2025, where Daddy Lumba was honoured as a senior citizen, illustrating the strong bond between the late musician and the country's President.

He also highlighted the deep appreciation the music industry holds for President Mahama’s continued support, affirming that it showcases the love he has for artists like the late Daddy Lumba.

“We have received encouraging feedback from His Excellency at the Presidency, and I am confident that President John Dramani Mahama will fulfil the public's desire for a respectful and grand burial,” Roman Fada stated.

Daddy Lumba's book of condolence to launch

A book of condolence dedicated to the memory of the highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, will be officially opened, Monday, July 28, at both his residence and his radio station, DL 106.9 FM, located in Accra.

“We warmly invite the public to come and pay their respects. Daddy Lumba was dearly loved by many, and while we are all grieving, we must trust that God has a plan,” Roman Fada remarked.

Vigil to be held for Daddy Lumba

The Creative Arts Agency (CAA) has also announced that it will organise a national candlelight vigil in honour of the legendary musician. The event has been scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Independence Square in Accra.

It would serve as a pivotal part of a global tribute to Daddy Lumba, with simultaneous memorials taking place in several countries worldwide, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands.

“On behalf of the Creative Arts Agency, we extend a warm invitation to everyone to attend a National Candlelight Vigil in memory of the late Daddy Lumba, Ghana’s beloved Highlife music legend,” the agency stated in their announcement.
