Takyi said Daddy Lumba had received both cash and a car to perform at a series of events promoting the company, but failed to fulfil his obligations.
"Many celebrities owe us as I speak right now. Daddy Lumba took our money and a customised Tundra to perform shows with the brand, but the sad news is that he did not deliver even half of his duties, and it is very bad," he said.
In a chat with YEN.com.gh, broadcast journalist/writer, Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku said Dr Takyi should have employed better means of raising his concerns than a public outburst.
"If he couldn’t retrieve his money or vehicle from Daddy Lumba while he was alive, why the public outburst now that the legend has passed? At his age and level of experience, Dr Manfred should have exercised better judgment and chosen a more respectful way to address the matter," he said.
Kyekyeku said it's understandable for one to feel aggrieved when owed money, but the approach matters, particularly when death has become involved.
"His actions, especially in the wake of a national mourning period, were both ill-timed and poorly delivered. There are established processes for resolving outstanding debts after someone’s death, typically through engagement with the deceased’s family or estate. If Dr Manfred takes a moment to reflect, he may come to regret how he handled the situation," he concluded.
