Joyce Ampadu, the wife of the late Ghanaian music stalwart Nana Kwame Ampadu, has reacted to the news of Daddy Lumba's passing.

In a touching tribute, Madam Joyce described Lumba as a kind person who went above and beyond for her.

Daddy Lumba passes away at 60

Lumba, known in private life as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away in Accra on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

His death was announced by his legal representative, Fati Ali Yallah, who issued an official statement on behalf of his family.

The statement indicated that Daddy Lumba had been receiving medical treatment at the hospital following a brief illness. He was 60.

The death of the music legend has plunged Ghana into deep grief, with notable personalities across the nation, including President John Mahama, expressing their condolences.

Already, a book of condolence has been opened at his East Legon residence, with many prominent figures visiting to commiserate with the highlife veteran's family.

Nana Ampadu's wife was among the many visitors to Lumba's family on Thursday, July 30, 2025.

Nana Ampadu's wife eulogises Daddy Lumba

In a video shared by Joy News TV, Madam Joyce, who had a good relationship with Lumba while he was alive, recounted how the late musician catered for her after Nana Ampadu passed away in 2021.

She indicated that Daddy Lumba had been giving her money for upkeep since she became a widow, adding that her visits to DL FM, a radio station owned by Lumba, always saw her leaving with money.

"I am very saddend this morning. My provider is gone. He has been looking after since Nana Ampadu left. Anytime I went to his radio station, he would ask his people to gather some money and give to me," she said.

Madam Joyce reassured Lumba's wife, Odo Broni, telling her that God was going to take care of her.

"I want to tell his wife to take heart and be quiet in these times. There would be many rumour, but she should ignore. God does not forsake widows, and he will provide for her," she added.

Gina Asante trashes Daddy Lumba's legacy

Meanwhile, as many praise the highlife icon, his passing and the follow-up eulogies have wrongly rubbed off on a gospel singer.

The singer, Gina Asante, questioned Daddy Lumba's legendary status on social media, stating that his songs were immoral.
