Akosua Serwaa played a vital role in Daddy Lumba’s rise to fame, helping to fund and support his first studio album, Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu, and his career during their early years in Germany.

She is among the few people Lumba regularly mentioned with gratitude whenever reflecting on his journey.

The couple had four children together. Serwaa remained based in Germany for much of their marriage, focusing on raising the children and staying out of the public eye.

While Daddy Lumba eventually moved back to Ghana and remarried, Akosua Serwaa continued to be recognised as the woman who stood by him in his foundational years.

Akosua Serwaa mourns Daddy Lumba

In a video sighted online, the head of the Lumba family, the Abusuapanin, was seen presenting her with a bottle of schnapps as part of traditional widowhood rites.

Akosua Serwaa and her four children, three girls and one boy, reportedly landed in Ghana on August 1, 2025 to pay homage to Lumba at his East Legon residence.

Her return to Ghana was prompted by Daddy Lumba’s passing. She joined the family to mourn in anticipation of the funeral rites.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Akosua Serwaa broke down in tears while mourning Daddy Lumba at his residence. She was seen in a video singing his 1992 song Owuo Atu Medunsini.

She had returned from Germany after his passing and was overwhelmed with emotion as she sat quietly, needing comfort from a woman seated beside her.
