Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has recounted fond memories he shared with the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, after the latter's untimely demise in the GAF helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on August 6, 2025.

Ablakwa speaks about close bond with Boamah

In an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel 1 TV's Point of View show, Ablakwa highlighted his friendship with the late Dr Omane Boamah.

In a solemn voice, the North Tongu Member of Parliament noted that the late Defence Minister was like a brother to him.

He mentioned that during his political campaign for the position of North Tongu MP, it was Dr Omane Boamah who read through his manifesto, and when he emerged victorious, they celebrated together.

"Dr Omane Boamah is a brother to me. He was the first to read my draft notes for my manifesto. Made a great input. He celebrated my victory together."

He further stated that the former minister, whose life was claimed in the ghastly military helicopter crash, chose him to MC his wedding in 2006, and that he was there when his children were born.

"He chose me to be the MC at his wedding in 2006. I am always there when his children are being born."

Ablakwa mentioned that Dr Omane Boamah was with him on his trips to the Volta Region, even though he did not know how to speak the language.

"We've done milestones together. He followed me all the way to Wa when I was going to get married to Noella. He is always in the take of affairs in every important decision I take."

Eight killed in tragic VIP bus accident
