Farida Mahama meets the Chief Imam

Farida Mahama drew admiration on social media after sharing heartwarming moments from her meeting with the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The meeting took place during the funeral rites of Alhaji Lumina Muniru, one of the victims of the tragic Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The other victims of the unfortunate incident were ⁠Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence; ⁠Dr. Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, MP for Tamale Central and the Minister for Environment, Science & Technology; ⁠Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC; ⁠Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate; ⁠Sqn. Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; ⁠Flying Officer, Twum Ampadu, and ⁠Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, and brought together prominent personalities, dignitaries, and members of the public to pay their last respects. Her father, President Mahama, delivered a touching tribute to honour the late politician.

In the memorable photos posted on her Instagram stories, Farida could be seen kneeling before the Chief Imam, a gesture deeply rooted in Ghanaian and Islamic traditions as a sign of respect.

YEN.com.gh reported that First Lady Lordina Mahama joined mourners at the Jubilee House to honour the memory of the victims of the recent Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash. The solemn wreath-laying ceremony brought together dignitaries, family members, and officials to pay tribute to the eight lives lost in the tragic incident.

Accompanied by her children and several government officials, Mrs Mahama approached the memorial with a heavy heart. She laid her flowers in silence, her expression reflecting the deep sorrow shared by the nation. The atmosphere was sombre as attendees remembered the service and sacrifice of those who perished.
