The widow of the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, was among the mourners at the solemn final funeral rites for six of the eight victims of the tragic Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Murtala Mohammed’s wife, accompanied by her mother and other family members, drew quiet admiration from many in attendance. Despite her grief, she carried herself with remarkable composure, maintaining a strong and dignified presence throughout the proceedings.

The late Murtala Mohammed, one of the eight lives claimed in the crash, was widely respected for his service in public life.
Friday’s ceremony served as both a moment of national mourning and a public tribute to the bravery of the victims, whose sacrifices will be remembered in Ghana’s history.

The emotional ceremony took place at the Black Star Square in Accra on Friday, August 15, drawing hundreds of mourners, including high-profile personalities, military officers, and grieving relatives.
Transitions transported the caskets, draped in the national colours, in luxury hearses, each bearing the names of the fallen heroes as number plates. They were received with full military honours, a 21-gun salute, and the sombre tunes of the military band.
Meanwhile, many Ghanaians have taken to social media to pay tribute to the eight fallen heroes and to remember their legacy.

Also, the black box of the crashed military helicopter has been retrieved, and experts are said to be investigating what information they could retrieve about their short trip in the air.

Wife of Squadron Leader Anala pays tribute
YEN.com.gh also previously reported that the grieving wife of the late Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala paid a touching tribute to her husband, sharing memories that have left many emotional.
The ceremony was held on August 14 and was attended by government officials, family and sympathisers. Anala, who was piloting the Ghana Air Force helicopter that crashed on August 6, tragically lost his life along with all seven others onboard.
In her moving words, she recounted a poignant final moment between her husband and their two-month-old baby before the fatal incident. She talked about how the pilot had hugged their infant for a long time before leaving for the trip to Obuasi.
