It was an awkward moment as Farida, the daughter of President John Dramani Mahama, encountered political commentator Appiah Stadium at the state funeral service for the eight people killed in the tragic helicopter crash on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The young lady joined her two brothers, Shafik and Sharaf, her parents, and many individuals who converged at the Black Stars Square to bid farewell to the victims of the recent unfortunate incident.

Former presidents Nana Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor were among the many top dignitaries who were present at the funeral service.

Farida struggles to recognise Appiah Stadium

Following the end of the funeral service at the Black Stars Square, Appiah Stadium approached President John Dramani Mahama's daughter, Farida Mahama, as she and her brothers, Shafik and Sharaf Mahama, made their way out of the venue.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, the president's daughter struggled to recognise and recall the name of the Kumasi-based social commentator, who is a staunch supporter of her father, as they shook hands and conversed among a large crowd.

Appiah Stadium later called on Farida Mahama's brother, Sharaf Mahama, who finally unveiled the staunch NDC supporter's identity to his sister.

The pair later shared an embrace before the president's daughter joined her brothers to depart the Black Stars Square.

Farida Mahama and Appiah Stadium's awkward interaction came as a surprise to many, considering the latter's close relationship to President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama.

At the funeral service for the eight helicopter crash victims, Peter Anala's wife, Ursula Anala, shared the final conversation she had with her husband before his tragic passing.

She also shared fond memories from her marriage with the late Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, including their moments together in the delivery room when they were about to welcome their baby in the UK, two months before his tragic demise.

Ursula Anala spoke about her husband's commitment to his role in the Ghana Armed Forces and service to the nation throughout his illustrious career as a military pilot.
