The thanksgiving service was held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Christ the King Catholic Parish in Accra, drawing a large gathering of mourners, dignitaries, and family members of the departed.
The billionaire entrepreneur and founder of Engineers & Planners was seen warmly chatting and embracing his sister, Hawa Mahama Agyeman, who attended the service alongside her husband.

Their public display of affection stood out amid the solemn atmosphere, portraying how close they were as siblings.
Both siblings came dressed in dignified black-and-white mourning outfits. Ibrahim Mahama wore a traditional northern Ghanaian smock with bold black and white stripes, a garment often reserved for important cultural and state occasions.
His sister complemented him beautifully in a patterned black-and-white dress, belted at the waist to give a graceful finish. Her outfit merged modern style with cultural significance, embodying elegance while honouring the solemnity of the moment.
When did the military helicopter crash occur?
The August 6 tragedy, which occurred at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians, including Tamale Central MP Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Defence Minister Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Director General of Ghana’s Disaster Relief Agency Samuel Aboagye and three Ghana Air Force officers.
