Naa Ashorkor highlights deplorable Pokuase-Nsawam road condition
As she traversed the waterlogged gutter on camera, the media personality could not hide her frustration, captioning her video post;
“This morning on the Pokuase–Nsawam road. Plying this road daily must be a nightmare.”
Her video, which she shared on her Instagram page, brought renewed attention to the ongoing construction saga on the Pokuase-Nsawam Highway.
For weeks, commuters have struggled with impassable stretches, as heavy rainfall turned unfinished asphalt into muddy quagmires.
The worsening conditions have triggered widespread condemnation from local transport unions, including the GPRTU, TUC, GRTCC, and other operators. They have threatened a sit-down strike, warning they would;
"park their vehicles and embark on a protest against the Government till their concerns are addressed."
Update on the Pokuase-Nsawam highway
Meanwhile, the government has recently taken a significant step to resolve the crisis. As of August 4, 2025, it has disbursed GH₵809 million to the contractor responsible for the project. The Controller and Accountant-General, Kwasi Agyei, confirmed,
“We made partial payments on July 24, another on July 30, and the final on August 4… we have honoured the full amount, amounting to about GH¢809 million.”
Contractor teams have reportedly returned to the site, raising hopes that stalled progress might resume, but for commuters already delayed by days of gridlock, relief cannot come soon enough.
