The controversial media personality arrived at the court to await a ruling from the judge on his case.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, wearing a black hoodie and trousers with a nose mask to cover his face, was seen arriving at the court in handcuffs while being escorted by two police officers from their vehicle.

The Wontumi TV presenter, with a towel covering his hand to prevent people present at the court premises, including the media, from seeing his handcuffs, was in a solemn mood as he sang a sad gospel song to console himself and uplift his spirits before entering the courtroom.

Recall that Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare was arrested by suspected national security operatives in Ejisu on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

He was apprehended days after he alleged on live radio that President John Dramani Mahama was responsible for the helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two cabinet ministers, Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Following the presenter's arrest, his employers issued an unreserved apology to President Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Ghanaian public amid mounting public pressure.

Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare has since been denied bail and remanded in police custody following his appearance at the Accra High Court on multiple occasions. The judge adjourned the case to August 27, when a judgment will be made to determine whether he will be granted bail or not.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Kevin Taylor mocked Akyenkwaa Nana after he failed to secure bail following his appearance in court.

In a video, the NDC activist claimed that the Wontumi TV presenter faced the threat of being taken to prison amid his legal battles.
