Ghana Helicopter Crash: Muslim Victims To Be Buried Today
- On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, eight people lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region

The burial ceremony for two of the victims of the helicopter crash that occurred in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region will take place today, Sunday, August 9, 2025.
The two are Muslims and will be buried according to Islamic tradition.

They are Minister for Environment, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, and former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed.
In a post announcing the burial, the presidency stated that the two would be buried in the Military Cemetery after Muslim Jannaza prayers at the Forecourt of the State House.
The ceremony will begin with Janazah prayers at 2:00 p.m. at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra. The burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Military Cemetery in Accra.
The burial ceremony will feature several high-profile attendees. This includes President John Mahama, the Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, and the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The National Chief Imam and the leader of the Ambariya Sunni Group are expected to attend. The deceased's family will also be present.

Ghanaian journalist, Israel Laryea, shared on Facebook that he saw preparations ongoing at the military cemetery where they will be buried.
Meanwhile, an inter-denominational state funeral for all eight deceased will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square.

Israel Laryea explained:
"I’ve had a few people asking in the comments if the bodies have already been identified. Indeed, I checked with the team I met on the ground at the Military Cemetery and they told me, they believe once they had been given the order to dig the graves for the two, it’s most likely the identification has been done or they are sure it would be done before tomorrow. It’s also possible that the two may have been identified by other means and so may not have required the analysis being done in SA."
Samuel Sarpong’s son eulogises his dad
YEN.com.gh reported that Emmanuel Sarpong paid a glowing tribute to his dad, Samuel Sarpong, after the family visited Jubilee House to lay a flower in his honour.
Emmanuel Sarpong described his father as a loving man who did not discriminate.
