The helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025, happened while the group was flying to an event in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

A video of the squadron leader displaying his helicopter skills is trending online, showcasing his experience and skill as a pilot.

In the footage, Anala was seen showing some extraordinary skills on the runway in Takoradi.

He was a senior officer in the Ghana Air Force (GAF), known for his extensive experience as a senior helicopter pilot based at Takoradi Air Force Base.

Who was late Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi?

Peter Bafemi Anala was born on November 2, 1989, in Siniensi, Upper East Region, to Paul Oscar Anala and Lucy Apung Anala.

He hailed from Tamale, Northern Region, and studied Computer Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), graduating in 2012.

In 2023, Anala earned a Master of Science in Air Transport and Aviation Management from KNUST.

At the time of his demise, he was doing a course in Safety and Accident Investigation in the UK.

Anala joined the Ghana Armed Forces in 2013 and was enrolled in the Aircrew Branch.

He was a pilot in the No.8 Helicopter Wing and usually flew the Z-9EH helicopter, and was involved in high-security missions, training amateur pilots, and VIP transport.

Tragically, he was recently married with the mother of a two-month-old child at the time of his demise.

Anala passed away on August 6, 2025, piloting a Z-9 helicopter that went down in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, leading to the death of all eight passengers, including two ministers, Edward Omane Boamah and Alhaji Murtala Mohammed, three other officials, and three crew members.

Unfortunately, the late pilot's demise was part of a series of family tragedies, as he had lost two siblings, Grace Lena Anala and Rev. Fr. Anthony Anala, earlier in 2025.

Many have mourned the late Squadron Leader and honoured his service to Ghana.

Brother shares pain after Peter Anala’s death

Earlier, YEN.com.gh also reported that the elder brother of Squadron Leader Anala had said the family was devastated.

He indicated that his sister-in-law, a new mother in the UK, had been left unable to speak since receiving the news.

Anala last visited in June and planned to return for their baby’s christening, with his widow struggling to cope since.
