One angry fan from Kasoa remarked, 'The NDC will go down. I’m not just talking.'
The fans feel the arrest of the dancehall singer is unjustified.
Shatta Wale was detained in a tax investigation linked to his purchase of a luxury car.
His Lamborghini Urus was seized earlier in August at the request of US law enforcement. It was alleged that the vehicle was tied to the proceeds of a criminal enterprise.
Speaking to the media, furious fans said the government should be going after alleged corruption by the Akufo-Addo administration instead.
“You said you would go after corrupt appointees of the previous government. How many of them are in jail? What has Wale done?”
Outpouring of support from Shatta Wale fans
Hundreds of the singer's diehard fans gathered in front of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, with some holding placards in a show of solidarity with the star.
One fan claimed he had skipped work to join the protest. He also spoke about Shatta Wale's impact on his life as he recounted how the musician's songs helped him cope with his mother's demise.
The fan stressed he had not been paid to stage the protest and expressed optimism that the charges against the SM boss would be dropped.
Shatta Wale already on bail from EOCO
Meanwhile, the dancehall star was granted GH₵10 million bail, with two sureties, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office.
His management and lawyer said they are working around the clock to meet the conditions and secure his release.
On August 21, the Economic and Organised Crime Office released a press statement to confirm Shatta Wale's detention and share more information they had gathered after their interrogation of the musician.
The office said the musician had yet to identify the individual from whom he purchased the yellow Lamborghini Urus.
The EOCO added that Shatta Wale claimed to have bought the luxurious car from the streets and did not have proper documentation to prove he was the actual owner.
