Kennedy Agyapong Announces Date and Time He Will File NPP Flagbearer Forms: “The Future Begins Now”

Kennedy Agyapong has announced he will file his nomination form for the New Patriotic Party flagbearer race on Wednesday, August 27.

The forms will be filed at the NPP National Party Headquarters in Accra.

Agyapong, in a statement online, said he would file the forms at 1 pm.

The firebrand politician and former MP reiterated the pillars of his campaign: patriotism, honesty and discipline.

"Together, we will unite our party, restore hope, strengthen our economy and build a Ghana that works for every citizen."

The NPP set Saturday, January 31, 2026, as the date to elect a new presidential candidate ahead of the 2028 elections.

The party opened nominations for aspiring candidates to formally express their interest, with all qualified and interested aspirants paying GH¢100,000 for nomination forms and GH¢500,000 as a filing fee.

So far, former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum have all picked up their nomination forms.

Bawumia tipped to win NPP flagbearer race

Bawumia was tipped to win the flagbearer race of according to a poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.

Figures released by Global InfoAnalytics showed that Bawumia has 52% support among NPP delegates, while Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, had 17%.

Bryan Acheampong brags about contributions to NPP

Acheampong recently boasted about his significant financial contributions to the party, saying he funded 27 out of 33 NPP candidates in the Eastern Region.

Speaking to some delegates, the MP for Abetifi said he had given GH¢2 million each to 26,000 NPP polling station executives in November 2024.

“I financed 27 out of the 33 NPP parliamentary candidates in the Eastern Region during the 2024 elections, giving each GHS 100,000 every month. I also gave GHS 2 million each to 26,000 NPP polling station executives in November, 2024."

NPP youth organisers declare support for Bawumia

YEN.com.gh reported that 490 NPP youth organisers declared support for Bawumia ahead of the party’s 2026 presidential primary.

The endorsement, announced at a meeting on July 29, praised his leadership, track record, and vision for Ghana’s future.

This move followed similar backing from over 200 former MMDCEs and more than 60 NPP MPs, strengthening his flagbearer bid.
