Vocal social media personality Kofi Gabs, alias Mr Happiness, has stirred reactions online for openly criticising what he calls the "fake love" being shown to the late music legend, Daddy Lumba.

In a video spotted by YEN.com.gh, the social media personality, based in the Netherlands began his rant by first acknowledging the passing of the music icon.

He then went on to criticise Ghanaians who would have behaved differently if Daddy Lumba were still alive.

He slammed the supposed dignified state burial that many Ghanaians are calling for in honour of Daddy Lumba.

This follows widespread calls from Ghanaians for the State to honour the veteran artiste’s immense contribution to Ghana’s music industry.

Speaking to Channel One News on Sunday, July 27, Roman Fada, the late musician’s lead manager, confirmed positive engagement with the Presidency.

In his words:

“We have received positive feedback from the Presidency, and I believe President John Dramani Mahama will respond favourably to the public’s call for a befitting burial.”

Kofi Gabs speaks on Daddy Lumba's death

According to Mr Happiness, it is hypocritical for Ghanaians to show their reverence for Daddy Lumba now that he is dead while he would not be accorded the same respect if he were still alive.

Gabs claimed the singer would be bashed if he were alive and honoured with a sum of money from both former President Nana Akufo-Addo (during his tenure) and current President John Mahama.

He then used this logic to question why Ghanaians are calling for a state funeral for Daddy Lumba which would require the government to pump in a lot of money to make this happen.

Gabs concluded by dismissing the love shown to Daddy Lumba after his death as "fake love towards the deceased" and "not justifiable".

Ugandan lady mourns Daddy Lumba

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that a Ugandan woman trended online after posting an emotional video mourning Daddy Lumba's death.

She called the Ghanaian icon 'our daddy' and sang a portion of Aben Wo Ha despite not knowing the full lyrics.

The grieving fan said Daddy Lumba’s passing was comparable to the deaths of Michael Jackson and Ebony Reigns.
