The head of Daddy Lumba's family has gone public in the wake of recent events surrounding the demise of the Ghanaian highlife legend.
In an interview with Kontonkyie TV on YouTube, Kofi Owusu offered clarity, stating that there was no bad blood between Priscilla Ofori Atta, alias Odo Broni, and Akosua Serwaa, the woman Daddy Lumba first married.

The elderly man, who seemed very sombre during the interview, stated that he recognises both Odo Broni and Akosua Serwaa as widows of the veteran highlife musician.
Kofi Owusu went viral after he made certain controversial comments about Odo Broni in an explosive interview shortly after the news of Daddy Lumba’s death reached him.
In that interview, the head of Daddy Lumba's family accused the musician's widow of being very disrespectful to the family, warning that if she tried to exclude the family from the funeral preparations or handle everything herself, they would not tolerate that.

The death of Daddy Lumba was made public on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in a press release issued by his lawyer.
According to the statement, he had been receiving treatment at the Bank Hospital, where he passed away.

The Creative Agency has disclosed that a candlelight vigil will be organised to honour the memory of the Ghanaian music legend.

Akosua Serwaa is the rightful widow
Speaking in an interview with YEN.com.gh, a relationship counsellor, Rose Aboagyewaa Agyeiwaa, objected to the idea of having two widows participating in the widowhood rites during the late musician’s funeral.
She explained that once the family recognises Akosua Serwaa as the legitimate wife of Daddy Lumba, it is right that she be allowed to undergo the widowhood rites instead of considering the involvement of Odo Broni.
"It is simply disrespectful for the family to allow Odo Broni to partake in the widowhood rites since she was not legally married to him," Counsellor Adjei told YEN.com.gh.
