Daddy Lumba: what about the two wives?
Daddy Lumba is an Akan who hails from Nsuta in the Ashanti Region. Per Akan culture, the wife or husband of a deceased person must perform widowhood rites.
In the legendary musician's case, Ghanaians are wondering who will perform these rites, since Daddy Lumba left behind two wives.
In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, two relatives of Daddy Lumba, including his elder brother, provided an answer to who will perform the rites.
They indicated that the family head, known in local parlance as Abusuapanyin, will decide on that.
The two stated that they were not aware of any other wife other than Akosua Serwaa, Daddy Lumba's first wife.
They claim he did not bring Odo Broni home to perform any marital rites as custom demands, and as such, the only wife they know is Akosua Serwaa.
However, they indicated that the onus lies with the Abusuapanin, and he alone can decide if just one person or both wives would perform the rites.
