The Methodist Bishop officiated the wedding between the late sergeant and his wife on July 5, 2025, barely a month before his untimely demise in the Ashanti region.
During a Joy News report, the bishop expressed his hurt over the sudden news using the Bible scripture, Isaiah 55:8-9.
"God's thoughts and ways are higher than human thoughts and ways, just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways," the bishop recited the scripture with his voice heavy with emotions.
"No human mind can comprehend what happens on this earth, but God understands it better. So we should all be consoled," the bishop said as he condoled with the late Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah's wife and his family.
The bishop shared his profound message when a delegation led by NADMO Central Director Mr. Kwesi Dawood called on the bereaved family at their house in Cape Coast.
The sad incident on August 6 claimed the lives of three military officers: Ernest Addo Mensah, Squadron Leader Peter Anala, and Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu.
They were the operating crew of a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Z-9 helicopter that was travelling from Accra to Obuasi, transporting five high-level government officials to a conference on the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
The flight crashed into the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi Afuokrom District of the Ashanti Region, killing all eight on board.
Aside from three military officers, the government officials killed were identified as Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye.
