Dr Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has firmly responded to the growing criticism surrounding his involvement in the recent Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash rescue operation.

The video, which was widely circulated on social media, shows the Regional Minister being recorded throughout the journey to the crash site, which led many to question his intentions.
Critics accused Dr Amoakohene of trying to gain political mileage or 'trend' from the tragic incident by showcasing his involvement in the rescue effort.
Many social media users and public figures have expressed concern that his actions could be interpreted as trivialising the gravity of the situation.
Ghanaian broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa expressed deep concern over the Minister's actions, noting that he appeared to have made the issue about himself.

In response to these criticisms, Dr Amoakohene addressed the public through a video, where he expressed his unwavering commitment to the victims and their families and slammed his critics.
“Nothing discourages me. Once I know I'm doing the right thing. I don't really pay heed to negative energy," he said.
Despite the backlash, Dr Amoakohene has received support from several colleagues and political figures. He thanked all of them in his video.
The GAF helicopter, which was on its way to Obuasi for an event, crashed on August 6, 2025, in the remote parts of the Ashanti Region, killing all eight people on board.
A team, including the Ashanti Regional Minister, was dispatched to search for the victims of the helicopter crash. Unfortunately, all eight perished in the crash.
The team comprised the Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, the Environment Minister, Dr Murtala Muhammed, and three other government officials. Aside from them, three military personnel were also on board the flight.
