The Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Anokye, visited the Manhyia Palace to mourn with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II following the Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III's passing.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the Kumasi Archbishop led a delegation to visit the Asantehene to commiserate with him and his family as they grieved over their great loss.

During their visit, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II received prayers from Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Anokye as he sat on his throne at the Manhyia Palace.

The Archbishop of Kumasi and his delegation also visited the late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s court to officially convey their sympathies to the family and offer prayers as well.

Asantehemaa's passing and aftermath

On Monday, August 11, 2025, the Oyoko Family confirmed that the Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who was the second most powerful royal in the Ashanti Kingdom, had died at the age of 98.

She had been appointed to the position of Asantehemaa on February 6, 2017, taking over from her mother, the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

The announcement of her demise was publicly made at an emergency Asanteman Traditional Council meeting held by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.

Prominent chiefs and queenmothers from the various communities in the Ashanti Kingdom attended the meeting.

Following the announcement of the Asantehemaa's demise, family members gathered to wail in their mourning clothes, signalling the mood at the Manhyia Palace.

The Manhyia Palace also announced a ban on all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to aid the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the people of Asanteman to observe the one-week celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.
