A dramatic scene unfolded at the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), as a traditionalist performed some rituals hoping to secure the release of controversial singer Shatta Wale from detention.

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that EOCO detained the Ghanaian musician as part of an investigation into his luxury vehicle, a Lamborghini Urus, and also into alleged money laundering, tax evasion, tax fraud and possession of proceeds of crime.

In June 2025, EOCO, in collaboration with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), seized the vehicle from Shatta Wale's residence in Accra.

Many, just like this traditionalist, believe the artist is being unfairly targeted.

While Shatta Wale has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he did not know the origins of the luxury car, fans and supporters have rallied behind him, calling for his immediate release.

In a show of support for the artist, the traditionalist poured a libation and smashed a bottle of schnapps on the ground.

This was a known traditional gesture meant to invoke ancestral blessings and protection.

The crowd watched in awe as the scene unfolded, with chants of solidarity echoing in the background.

Police officer clashes with Shatta Wale's fans

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the management of Shatta Wale confirmed that he voluntarily presented himself, flanked by his lawyer, to assist with the ongoing inquiry, urging fans to remain calm.

However, on the morning of August 21, 2025, some of Shatta Wale's fans gathered at the EOCO headquarters, leading to chaos and a heated confrontation with a police officer.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, the officer was visibly agitated as he exchanged words with the fans, prompting colleagues to intervene and calm the situation.
