Squadron Leader Peter Anala’s Widow Recounts His Last Words to Her Before His Demise

Ursula Anala, the widow of the late Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, paid tribute to her late husband at the state funeral for the victims of the helicopter crash on Friday, August 15, 2025.

During the final funeral rites ceremony at the Black Star Square, the young widow joined her family to pay her last respects to her late husband.
In her emotional tribute at the funeral service, Ursula Anala spoke about her husband's commitment to his role in the Ghana Armed Forces and service to the nation throughout his illustrious career as a military pilot.

She also shared fond memories from her marriage with the late Peter Anala, including their moments together in the delivery room when they were about to welcome their baby in the UK, two months before his tragic demise.
Ursula Anala also spoke about the plans she and her late husband had made to give their child a better life shortly after her birth abroad.
She shared that her late husband had wanted to stay with her and their newborn child in the UK for a month but had to return to Ghana due to his job after spending only two weeks with them due to the baby's health issues.
Late Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala's widow also shared that her late husband promised to return to the UK for their child's christening in October before coming back to Ghana.
She also shared the difficulties she would face in raising their daughter as a single mother in the absence of her late husband.

Peter Anala's widow shares his last words
Peter Bafemi Anala's widow, Ursula, also shared details about her last conversation with her husband in the morning before he boarded the Z-9 helicopter, which crashed.
She said:
"Every morning, you would record a video to share how your day would be and all the exciting things and places you would go. My love, I will call you back when we are back in Accra. Love you. Those cannot be the last words you ever said to me."
The late Squadron Leader's wife was overcome with grief as she also shared how devastated she was by her husband's untimely passing and her wish to reunite with him on earth.

Who died in the tragic helicopter crash?
The August 6 helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight people, including two cabinet ministers from the current NDC government.

The passengers were aboard a Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter when it crashed in a thick forest at Adansi Sikaman, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased included Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, Dr Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, MP for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science & Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate.
Military personnel Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah also perished.
As per Islamic customs, Dr Alhaji Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed were buried at the Military Cemetery, Burma Camp, on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Omane Boamah's children pay their last respects
