The NDC government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, was hit by a major tragedy this week after a helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region that killed eight people, including two cabinet Ministers.
According to a press release from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the Air Force Z-9 helicopter took off from Accra at 9:12 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, en route to Obuasi.
The helicopter was declared missing after it went off radar, and a search effort was launched to find it.
It was later discovered to have crashed into the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi Akuofrom District of the Ashanti Region, killing everyone on board.
Civilian casualties included Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former NDC Obuasi East parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and the NDC’s Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong.
Three air force officers who were operating the flight also died in the crash.

South African prophetess warned Mahama of danger
In a video that has resurfaced since the deadly crash, a South African prophetess, Rachel Masabata of Kadosh International Ministries, warned the NDC government of danger ahead.
In the video, recorded on January 1, 2025, the female preacher said that after President Mahama's swearing-in ceremony on January 7, his party would face 'spiritual danger'.

She claimed that entities in the realm of the spirit are seeking revenge from the party due to events that led to the death of former President John Atta Mills.
Masabata warned that many people in Mahama’s government would die, particularly those in Parliament.
The TikTok video of her prophecy is below.
Speaking to YEN.com.gh, Ghanaian blogger Chris Osei said such prophecies must be viewed with a healthy dose of caution.
"Prophecies like these often cause a lot of panic in Ghana’s political and religious circles. While some view them as divine warnings, others see them as just tools to cause fear. I believe such claims should be approached with caution. However, for people who believe in the supernatural, I believe, they should seek the right guidance." he said.
