Helicopter Crash: NPP General Secretary Urges IGP to Arrest Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the Deputy Majority Chief Whip.
This comes after the MP for Ada claimed that the military helicopter, which reportedly crashed on August 6, 2025, had exploded mid-air before it fell to the ground.

"The helicopter did not crash; it exploded in the air before it fell to the ground. So all the people were burnt even before it landed on the ground. The parts of the helicopter were scattered all over the site, and the bodies were also scattered and burning," she reportedly said.
MP Cudjoe-Ghansah made these remarks during an interview with Okay FM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, where she also expressed her condolences to the bereaved families.
Also speaking to Okay FM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Kodua Frimpong described the Deputy Majority Chief Whip's claims as 'reckless', urging the police to call her for questioning.

Eight Ghanaians died in the helicopter crash
The helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including five government officials and three crew members.
The victims are Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Limuna Muniru, Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong, former Ashanti Regional Minister, and Samuel Aboagye, former NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East.
The crew members onboard the chopper were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces, the helicopter was heading to Obuasi for an official event when it reportedly lost contact shortly after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m.
Burial for victims of Obuasi helicopter crash
Meanwhile, the government has announced plans to hold a mass burial service for the six Christian victims of the helicopter crash on Friday, August 15, 2025.
However, the late Dr Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru, who were both Muslims, were buried on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Military cemetery in Accra.
This was followed by a three-day adua (final rites) for them in Accra and Tamale on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

NPP social media activist allegedly arrested
YEN.com.gh reported earlier that an NPP social media activist was reportedly picked up by men believed to be national security operatives.
A parliamentary candidate for the opposition party, Akosua Manu, shared more details on the alleged arrest of Sir Obama in a social media post.
She described the move as crude but provided no further details on the circumstances of the online commentator's alleged detention.
