The state funeral for the six remaining victims of the helicopter crash, including the late Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, was held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.

Many important personalities, including Communications Minister Sam George, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Ablah Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, and many others, attended the funeral service.
The family of the late Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah also attended the funeral service to bid farewell to their departed relative before his burial in the Military Cemetery.

Omane Boamah's mother inconsolable at state funeral
In a video shared by blogger Tina News Gh from the Black Stars Square, Dr Edward Omane Boamah's family was seen arriving at the funeral grounds.
The mother of the late Minister of Defence broke down in tears as two individuals held her hands while she and her granddaughters, Akua and Ama, arrived to observe the funeral.
One of Dr Edward Omane Boamah's daughters later consoled her grandmother as she and her daughter-in-law, Rita Omane Boamah, and the late minister's son, Yaw, sat in the front row at the state funeral grounds.

Eight perish in GAF helicopter crash
A Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter travelling to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region crashed on August 6, 2025.
The accident was confirmed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah after GAF reported the plane missing on Wednesday.

During a press conference held at the Presidency on August 6, 2025, Julius Debrah confirmed that all eight persons onboard the plane had perished.
The eight persons involved are Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru; Former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Samuel Sarpong; and Former legislator Samuel Aboagye.

The army personnel involved in the crash were identified as Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Residents recover valuable item belonging to victim
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that a valuable item belonging to one of the victims of the Ghana Air Force helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, was retrieved.
In a viral video, a resident who found the item spoke about how he retrieved it after the aircraft went down.
Netizens who saw the video were upset and questioned why he carried 'a piece of evidence' away from the site to his house.
