Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stirred outrage on social media following a meeting with TikTok personality Fante Comedy after he was released on bail.

TikTok personality Prince Ofori, also known as Fante Comedy, was arrested by national security operatives after passing unsavoury comments about the recent helicopter crash that devastated the country.

Eight individuals, including five high-ranking government officials and three Air Force officers, were killed in the August 6 crash.

In the aftermath of the crash, Fante Comedy and the North Tongu constituency Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yayrah Abiwu, made comments that were allegedly threatening the life of President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama.

They were subsequently arrested and arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court, which granted Fante Comedy bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed, on Wednesday, August 13.

Despite receiving bail, Fante Comedy remained in custody until Monday, August 18, when he was released following another appearance before the Circuit Court.

The TikTok personality’s release sparked jubilation among NPP activists, many of whom assembled at the Circuit Court and gave him a hero’s welcome.

Fante Comedy meets Dr Bawumia after release

Fante Comedy, after his release on bail, was entirely unrepentant and promised to make more inflammatory comments against President Mahama and other political leaders.

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, he was ushered to the offices of former Vice President and NPP 2024 flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for a meeting.

Bawumia consoles Lordina Mahama after helicopter crash

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that Mahamudu Bawumia consoled the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, following the tragic loss of eight Ghanaians in a helicopter crash.

The former Vice President, clad in black attire, was captured offering some comforting words to the First Lady, while she stared into his face with a warm smile.
