Ibrahim Tanko: Borussia Dortmund (1997)

Ibrahim Tanko was one of Ghana's brightest young stars in the 1990s, and his ability to play at the highest level in European football was evident when he joined Borussia Dortmund.

According to Wikipedia, Tanko featured in the 1997 UEFA Super Cup, where his Spanish side FC Barcelona won. Despite his role in helping Dortmund claim the Champions League title earlier that year, the Super Cup match against the La Liga giants ended in disappointment for Tanko and his teammates as Barcelona claimed the trophy, winning 2-0.

Ibrahim Tanko, now the head coach of Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC, won two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund between 1994 and 2001.
