Čech’s journey in professional football began in earnest when Chelsea signed him from Rennes in 2004 for £7 million.

Over the next 11 years, he became one of the club’s most trusted figures between the posts, making 494 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

He lifted numerous trophies for the Blues, including four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, and the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

In 2015, he moved to Arsenal, where he added another FA Cup to his collection before retiring in 2019.

Retirement didn’t mean stepping away from sport for Čech.

He switched to ice hockey, playing as a goalkeeper, and even took on the role of Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor until 2022, leaving after Todd Boehly’s consortium took over the club.

Today, he continues to play ice hockey for Oxford City Stars in the NIHL South Division 1.
