Alexander Isak has officially spoken out about his Newcastle United future, confirming that he wants to leave the club and is eyeing a summer switch to Premier League champions Liverpool.
The Swedish international believes his time at St. James’ Park is over and has already begun distancing himself from the squad.

His absence from the PFA Awards, where he was named in the Team of the Year, further fuelled speculation. Isak also skipped Newcastle’s pre-season tour, citing injury, though medical scans showed no significant concern.
He later trained privately at Real Sociedad without informing the club, a move that caught manager Eddie Howe off guard.
Since returning, Isak has continued training alone and was excluded from a recent team barbecue, highlighting growing tensions behind the scenes.
According to the Swedish international, Newcastle United have failed to uphold certain promises, prompting his decision to seek a move this summer, as reported by The Guardian.

What is the 'broken promise' Isak is talking about?
According to Geordie Boot Boys, Alexander Isak was reportedly left furious last summer when a pay rise he believed had been promised was unexpectedly postponed. At the time, he still had four years remaining on a contract worth £140,000 per week.
According to those close to the player, Isak made it clear to both manager Eddie Howe and the club’s hierarchy last spring that he intended to leave this summer. However, Howe and the board are understood to have a very different interpretation of those conversations.
Meanwhile, in an official statement, as covered by The Sun, Newcastle United affirmed that the door remains open for Alexander Isak’s return, stating he will be "welcomed back" when he is ready.
According to The Telegraph, the Magpies, who reportedly wanted to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, have set a valuation exceeding £150 million for their star striker.
Since he arrived in 2022, the 25-year-old has delivered consistently outstanding performances, netting 62 goals in 109 appearances this season alone, including an incredible 54 in the Premier League.
