An Italian footballer has tragically died after collapsing at home in front of his mother.

The 30-year-old had recently joined an Italian non-league side.

He was scheduled to take part in his very first training session with the team today after signing his contract.

However, he suddenly became unwell yesterday and collapsed at home.

His mother, who was present, quickly called for emergency help.

Tragically, paramedics were unable to revive him.

The club later released a statement confirming the heartbreaking news.

"ASD Castell’Azzara is deeply shaken by the tragic news of the passing of Luca Aluisi. The young man, 30, was ready to wear our jersey and begin this new sporting adventure with great enthusiasm.

"The club joins with heartfelt sympathy in the family’s grief for the sudden loss of Luca. Our deepest condolences go to his loved ones.

Massimo Natali, president of the Marta football team, said:

“It’s devastating news. He had been with us since childhood, always full of passion and commitment.

He was a kind and thoughtful young man, deeply involved in community life. His memory will remain with us forever.”

The player’s father, Marco, is a local police officer. In his tribute, the town’s mayor said:

“There are no words to ease the pain of losing a child. We offer a silent embrace to Marco and his family in this irreparable loss.”
