The Minority in Ghana's Parliament has demanded action from President John Mahama following violent incidents during the Ablekuma North election rerun.

Collins Adomako-Mensah, the MP for Afigya Kwabre North, has criticised President John Mahama's decision to scrap fuel allowances for all government appointees.

Assembly Members in Ghana are now receiving a GH¢1,300 monthly allowance under the Resetting Ghana Agenda, in fulfilment of President Mahama's 2024 promise.

Ewurabena Aubynn, NDC MP-elect for Ablekuma North, has apologised for violent clashes during the rerun elections that saw top NPP figures assaulted.

The Presidency Spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, announced the launch of ‘The Government Accountability Series’.

Ewurabena Aubynn has won the Ablekuma North parliamentary seat for the NDC for the first time in 28 years, defeating former MP for the area, Nana Akua Afriyie.

The Ablekuma North constituency parliamentary election is set to finally be resolved after more than six months, with a rerun over disputed results.

Nana Akua Afriyie defied NPP’s boycott to contest in the Ablekuma North rerun as EC ordered fresh polls in 19 stations after the High Court dismissed her suit.

The High Court has dismissed the NPP’s injunction against the Electoral Commission’s rerun in Ablekuma North, allowing the election to proceed on July 11, 2025.
